Our fees and how pricing works

You'll know what treatment costs before it starts. After an examination we give you a plan with the cost of each item, so nothing arrives as a surprise on the invoice. Children and teenagers up to 18 are free under the School Dental Scheme, and we lodge ACC claims for accidental damage.

We'll give you a figure, not a range

Quoting a national average here wouldn't help you much - the cost depends on your teeth. After an examination we'll give you a written plan with the cost of each item, before any treatment is booked. Ring 03 441 8248 and we'll arrange it.

What changes the price

  • What the examination finds - this is why a plan comes after, not before
  • Whether X-rays are needed
  • Whether sedation is used
  • How many appointments the treatment requires
  • Whether ACC or the School Dental Scheme applies

You'll know before we start

Dentistry has a bad reputation for surprise bills, and most of that comes from treatment being agreed verbally and priced afterwards. We do it the other way round: examination first, then a written plan with costs, then you decide.

If something changes mid-treatment - and occasionally it does, because some things are only visible once a tooth is opened up - we stop and talk to you about it rather than carrying on and adding it to the bill.

Free for under-18s

Basic dental care is publicly funded for children and teenagers up to their 18th birthday, and we're a registered adolescent provider. Routine examinations, cleaning and standard treatment cost you nothing in that age group.

ACC

If a tooth was damaged in an accident, ACC usually contributes. We lodge the claim as part of your appointment - you don't need to have filed anything beforehand. ACC generally contributes rather than covering everything, so there may be a surcharge, and we'll tell you what it is before starting.

If cost is the barrier

Tell us. There is often more than one way to treat something, at genuinely different price points, and we'd rather find the option you can actually go ahead with than quote the ideal one and have you do nothing. Delayed treatment almost always costs more in the end.

Our fees - common questions

Can you give me a price over the phone?
For an examination, yes. For treatment, not honestly - the cost depends on what we find. What we can do is see you, work out what's needed, and give you a written plan with costs before anything is booked.
Do you take ACC?
Yes, we're a registered ACC provider and we lodge the claim for you. That includes many visitors injured in New Zealand.
Is dental care free for my children?
Yes, up to their 18th birthday under the School Dental Scheme. We're a registered adolescent provider.
