What we handle here
A lot of oral surgery doesn't need a hospital or a specialist referral. We carry out these procedures at the practice under local anaesthetic, with sedation available if you would rather not be fully aware of it.
- Surgical extractions, including broken-down and impacted teeth
- Wisdom teeth removal
- Removal of retained roots
- Biopsies of soft tissue lesions
- Minor gum and soft tissue procedures
- Preparation of a site ahead of an implant
When we refer on
Some cases genuinely belong with a specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeon - roots sitting against the nerve, complex impactions, or anything where a hospital setting is the safer option. Queenstown has specialist services available, and we would rather send you to the right person than take on something that should be done elsewhere.
Recovery
Expect swelling and soreness for a few days, easing steadily after that. We go through aftercare with you before you leave - what to eat, how to keep the site clean, and what is normal versus what warrants a phone call. Give yourself a quiet day or two, and avoid smoking, which slows healing more than most people expect.
